UPDATE 3/16/23: We’ve had a great response and are happy to confirm that sufficient numbers have signed up for the dance weekend to happen — and there are still some spots available!
Dance teaching for the weekend will use the terms “ladies and gents”, but only as labels for roles. All dancers are welcome to dance in the role(s) of their choice, with the partners of their choice.
Note: The Challenging Workshop for Experienced Dancers is scheduled for Sat. 6/9 at 1pm. As a reminder, it requires knowledge of and confidence in basic figures (e.g. double figure-eight, cross-over mirror heys, heys for 3 and 4) and some familiarity with more advanced/unusual figures (e.g. chevrons). Dancers are expected to dance the basic figures without assistance. Some talk-throughs and walk-throughs may be brief. Please contact the registrar at acrossthelakeregistrar@gmail.com if you’ve registered for this by mistake and would like to be refunded the $25 fee.
IMPORTANT: BEFORE YOU REGISTER … Read all the information under “2023 DETAILS” below, especially the schedule, the COVID-19 safety precautions and requirements, and the lodgings page. The event runs Friday night (welcome dance – $35), Saturday afternoon (a $25 challenging workshop for experienced dancers will be followed by a free review session for all), and Saturday evening (dress-up gala – $40). The full weekend is $100, but you can also choose by individual session(s). There are no activities on Sunday. We are not offering home hospitality this year, so be sure to first research the cost of hotel and airbnb/vrbo lodgings; special ATL rates/discounts are available for several hotels. Additionally, our Clothing Sale/Boutique will not happen this year and we’ll likely ask you to bring goodies (ready-to-serve finger foods) for the evening refreshments.
IMPORTANT FOR CANADIANS: Thanks to a generous benefactor, Canadians can either pay the same numeric amount as other attendees but in Canadian dollars at the door, OR pay in US dollars with a 25% discount to the amount shown in US cash or US funds check.
